FORM TAKES #1

FORM TAKES #1, Letitia Minnick

Tend to creative fires.
Loosely weave your desires.
Dreams, like lovers, may take flight
if ignored or held too tight.

Slow and steady wins the race
when you keep a stable pace
watch your step and keep your head
you will finish first instead.

High in an old Cedar tree
sunset wraps me in beauty
a tear falls miles to the ground
splashes thunder without sound.

Show your children gifts of life
give your time in fun or strife
when from seed they turn to oak
this shall pass to all their folk.

The Phone

The phone receiver lay on the desert floor
Thrown out of the door
A forgotten relic from time past
Trashed

There was a time
When the phone would chime
To signal a call
From your favorite doll

It was the only way to talk
Without walking around the block
To the neighbours place
And meeting face to face

The phone’s time is almost done
And like the setting sun
It will fade into black
Never to make a comeback

When that day has arrived
I will feel deprived
And begin to moan
Because I do not have a cell phone

Phone Home

lying in cut grass
a black phone receiver is
calling 911
nature is trying to dial
out for some much needed help
